JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Reports to the Plant Manager. Responsible for safe and professional operation of Class A tractor-trailer equipment to support the processing plant, growers and feed mill related shipping requirements. This position will maintain a food safety culture and require all employees to participate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
All employees are responsible to report food safety and quality issues to those responsible to initiate action.
- Overnight trips will be required 1 to 2 times per week.
- Operate truck equipment to ensure safe transportation of eggs, feed and farm supplies as required.
- Pre-op inspection of tractor / trailer.
- Take inventory of materials at farms.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Loading, unloading and transport of eggs from all grower facilities to the processing facility
- Loading, transport and unloading of feed to all grower facilities as needed.
- Transportation of farm supplies to all grower facilities as required
- Completion of all necessary paperwork that accounts for goods being delivered or picked up.
- Maintain accurate DOT records as required to maintain Class A CDL status.
- Be able and willing to assist in other areas of shipping and warehouse activities as needed.
- Observe and follow all personnel safety procedures.
- Knowledge of basic food safety requirements and ability to communicate any food safety and quality concerns to supervisor and/or plant manager.
- Support shipping dept. by moving trailers around in the yard.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and respond appropriately to constant change in priorities as necessary. Valid Class A CDL drivers license in good standing.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Experience preferred in operation of Class A tractor / trailer and knowledge of handling food and/or fragile products. Ability to operate forklift and/or pallet jack.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak and read the English language. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of supervision. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to fill out and complete records and forms.
