So, of course, our signature yellow and blue cartons are environmentally friendly and 100% biodegradable (labels included).
We were inspired by one of our Yolk Cult members to test our green thumb and repurpose our cartons in the garden. Wanna join? Here’s the 4-1-1 on growing seedlings in a Happy Egg Carton…
What you’ll need:
-
Happy Egg Carton
-
Pair of Scissors
-
Garden Soil
-
Water
-
Seeds (gardener’s choice!)
-
Large pot or outdoor area to move them to as they grow
Here's what to do:
-
Step 1: Cut the lid off of your carton (easy enough, right?).
-
Step 2: Fill each egg cup with soil and poke a hole in the center.
-
Step 3: Place one seed in each hole, and cover with soil.
-
Step 4: Water according to directions, and keep in a light-filled room. Once you see seedlings, they’ll be ready to upgrade their space!
-
Step 5: Cut the egg cups apart.
-
Step 6: Create shallow holes in your larger pot or garden, and place each egg cup in one (still with us?).
-
Step 7: Cover with more soil– just be sure you don’t lose sight of the seedling. And because we know you’re thinking it: yes, you can bury the egg cup! That’s on being 100% biodegradable.
-
Step 8: Keep watering, and watch your plant babies grow.
